Phil Gates at the Monterey Bay Blues Festival
Phil performed on the Presidents stage at the Monterey Bay Blues Festival this year, and had a great time! Here's what Dorothy Hill, President of the Golden Gate Blues Society, wrotein Blues Source Magazine:
"Phil Gates and his band followed on the same stage in an explosion of greasy guitar playing and solid backing by Danny Ritter on drums, Lynne Davis on bass and Mark Justin on keyboards. Gates declared his passion for the blues with gritty vocals on “Addicted To The Blues,” the title cut from his new CD. One of the highlights was a shuffle blues, “Sexy Little Cool,” featuring an incisive slide guitar delivery. This was a winning set with the charismatic Gates plunging deep into blues and soul weaving dense texturing into his amazing guitar styling."
